Wednesday Wanderings

Instead of a “Monday Musings” post, I’ve cleverly rescheduled my random post to Wednesday and changed the name to “Wednesday Wanderings.” Get it? But that’s not the only change. Expect to see roughly 64% more photos in today’s post.

First, things have been pretty crazy for the past few weeks. Work has been keeping my crazy-busy (which is good) and it seems as if we’ve had very few free nights at home. Hayley has been equally as busy. It’s just a wild time around the Ramsey household.

Secondly, our house, which is broken, is about to be fixed! We have a contractor scheduled and waiting for us to get some plumbing checked out. After three months of living upstairs, it will be nice for life to get back to normal. The picture to the left is taken in our kitchen. We have an equally large hole in our living room. It has been a beast getting contractors to call us back – which makes it very difficult to get on their schedules. It’s kind of amazing how so many contractors have such terrible reputations for customer satisfaction (at least on the residential side). It must be nice to be in such a high-demand business that you can treat people however you want.

Thirdly, Hayley had a casual hula performance on Saturday. She did awesome, per usual. You can see some more photos at my new hula-dedicated Flickr set.

Fourthly, I had the distinct pleasure of assisting Lou Heldman’s “Business of News” class set up some blogs Monday night. Below is a photo of my delivering a motivational speech to all the engaged – and obviously entertained – students.

Finally, I haven’t given up the dream of being on Larry King Live. Hopefully, the second phase of my internet-craze-creating campaign will commence after the holiday weekend. If you haven’t already, head over to the LKL post and send an email requesting that I be a guest on the show.

So what’s been going on in your worlds lately?

Monday Musing

Ah, happy Monday my blog-friends. I know that I’m not supposed to blog about the fact I haven’t been blogging, but I am coming off of nearly two weeks without a post; I think something must be said. First, I have been busy. My new job is going really well – I’m going gangbusters (I don’t actually know what that means, but I adore the word). I’m fortunate to be working with some exciting clients and some awesome folks. Secondly, I’m in my blogging Dip. I need to press through the lack of inspiration, meaningful content and desire to blog so I can continue bringing hard-hitting commentaries and posts o’ inspiration. Please bear with me and send encouragement as I work to overcome my Dip.

Some examples of the needed encouragement include an email I received from one George W. Bush through my speaker info request form. Thank you to whomever sent it my way.

Speaking of “email,” I received a hilarious Spam the other day that I can’t wait to share with you. I’m not quite ready yet, but will be soon, I promise.

Speaking of “not quite ready yet,” I can’t believe how well Ron Paul is doing. Second in Nevada, ahead of Giuliani in South Carolina…it’s amazing! There’s no way he’ll win, but at least he’s sticking around long enough to broadcast his ideals – ideals that are much needed in the political non-speak so often trumpeted during the debates. If you’re rich and into giving your money to hopeless causes, you should throw some money his way during today’s fund raiser.

Speaking of “hopeless causes,” how are you handling this writer strike? Anybody started resorting to extreme measures like reading or exercising or talking to loved ones? Yeah, me neither, but I’m getting ridiculously close.

Speaking of “ridiculously close,” Breathe is beginning anew. After our initial misstep, we are pressing on to realize this vision. Since we don’t have a venue for our weekly gathering (a not-too-long-but-relatively-boring story) we are starting smaller and more intimately. Stay tuned for details.

Speaking of “details,” I’d better get ready for work.

What are you musing about this Monday? My poor transitions? The state of the strike? Share!

Monday Musings on Tuesday

  • I have finally decided who will receive the coveted Todd Blog Presidential Endorsement: Congressman Ron Paul. Paul’s libertarian stances on taxation, the war and personal liberties match up quite well with my own. While I struggle with Paul’s statement that we caused 9/11 (which, I believe, was taken out of context), I believe that he is straightest-shooting politician on the Republican side. For those who plan on supporting Mike Huckabee, please know that he is not a true conservative candidate. While he is certainly socially conservative, his fiscal view and record are anything but. Don’t let Chuck Norris sway you.
  • I’m tired of singing songs that I don’t really understand or mean. For example, we sang “Heaven Came Down” on Sunday at my church. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice, fine song. But I don’t really know what I’m talking about. What does “glory filled my soul” mean? Also, what is “There’s a Stirring” about? When I die? When I come to know Jesus? And finally, does Jesus really “still feel the nails” every time I fail?
  • I heard a commercial for an upcoming Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson concert in Wichita. The announcer said, “Reba and Kelly Clarkson, on stage together, at last” as if people were waiting and asking for this duo. I just thought that was funny.
  • I can’t stand the “Christmas Shoes” song. Apparently, by 8:50 a.m. this morning, this dreadful song had been requested three times! Oh Wichitans, you disappoint me. That said, here, without further ado, is the Christmas Shoes music video:
  • I’ve talked about Cute Overload before, but if you haven’t visited, you simply must. If you use an RSS reader, you should add it to your feeds. Getting a daily overload of cuteness makes everyone a little more cheerful.

So, what’s going on in your world this Tuesday?
