I’ve never read the Bible.
I’ve started a bunch of times, trying different methods, but I’ve never successfully read all the way through. There are some psalms, proverbs, songs of Solomon (or Songs) and definitely some minor prophets that I’ve never laid my eyeballs on. Equally tragic, there are some major stories and epistles that have received my eyeballs, but never my brain. I’d like to remedy both of those things.
So this year, for Lent, I am beginning a complete readthrough of the Bible. And I want to chronicle my thoughts here. While I’m not under the delusions that 1.) anyone still reads this blog, 2.) anyone cares what I have to say about the Bible, or 3.) these will be particularly enlightening thoughts, I hope that this public, unfiltered journaling will be a resource for me later and a small measure of accountability for me now.
The first post is going up tomorrow morning, so resubscribe to my RSS feed, update your bookmarks and get ready for a Biblical adventure like no other (unless you count the millions of others who’ve already done exactly what I’m doing).
