My worship set
I’m not a worship leader. There’s a VERY good chance that worship leading is not a path I will be able to pursue in the future. This is for a number of reasons:
- I don’t play an instrument very well. I can play a couple of chords on guitar – enough to play about 98% of the worship songs out there – but I don’t play them very well. And what little I remember of my piano lessons is limited to the first couple lines of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata.
- I’ve never really had any worship leader experience, either as a leader or participant.
- My song choices are limited to what I hear on Hillsong United CDs. While awesome, this does limit my song choices quite a bit.
Regardless of the things holding me back, I still like to pretend that I could put together a pretty engaging worship set. But as I have no church to try this out on, I will have to settle with posting it here and imagining it coming to life.
For those who do work at a church in the capacity of a worship leader, feel free to take this set and take it for a spin. If it brings people to Jesus, make sure to come back here and report your findings. If it causes them to walk out the door in boredom, frustration or apathy, you probably should have added another guitar and incorporated video.
The Set
Hosanna by Jason Morant – As people are coming in and finding their seats
Opening Responsary Prayer:
My soul waits for the Lord
more than those
who watch for the morning,
more than those
who watch for the morning.
Call: Out of the depths I have cried to You.
Response: O Lord, hear my voice.
Call: With my whole heart I want to praise You.
Response: O Lord, hear my voice.
Call: If you, Lord, should mark iniquities:
Response: Who could stand? who could stand?
I will wait for the Lord.
My soul waits,
and in His word
do I hope.

Expressions of Faith:
Lord, You have always given
bread for the coming day;
and though I am poor,
today I believe.
Lord, You have always given
strength for the coming day;
and though I am weak,
today I believe.
Lord, You have always given
peace for the coming day;
and though of anxious heart,
today I believe.
Lord, You have always kept
me safe in trials;
and now, tried as I am,
today I believe.
Lord, You have always marked
the road for the coming day;
and though it may be hidden,
today I believe.
Lord, You have always lightened
this darkness of mine;
and though the night is here,
today I believe.
Lord, You have always spoken
when time was ripe;
and though you be silent now,
today I believe.

Closing Benediction:
See that ye be at peace among yourselves, my children,
and love one another.
Follow the example of good men of old
and God will comfort you and help you,
both in this world
and in the world which is to come.
As you can tell, I’m heavily influenced by some specific artists. And I really just copied a couple of their song groupings and mashed them together.
Now it’s your turn. Share your worship set. You can do it here in the comments if you’d like, or on your own blog. Just make sure you leave a comment with the link so we can all check it out.

My other blog
There’s something I have to confess to you, friends: I haven’t been entirely faithful to you. You see, there’s another place where I post my thoughts and musings. And while that’s all fine and good, it’s where my intelligent thoughts and musings end up – you end up with whatever’s left over.
I’m not sure this is all good, and I’ll be sure to “bring the smarts” in coming posts, but in the meantime, I’d like to invite you to check out my writing on the other blog. Most of it is focused on social media and the digital world, so I’m sure it will be of interest to many of you.
Check out my writing at the official Greteman Group blog.
The best part about Greteman Group’s blog is that there is a collective wisdom not achieved here at ToddBlog.net. So be sure to check out the rest of the posts too.
I hope you can forgive me.

ToddBlog Design
If you haven’t noticed, I’ve made some design changes to ToddBlog.net. (If you’re an RSS reader, I invite you to come check it out.) I’m not a designer, and while I work with some ridiculously talented folks, their design genius and skills haven’t magically transferred into my heart and hands. So, what you see is the result of my love for Gill Sans and Adobe Kuler.
So, I’m turning to you. What do you think of the design? Do you have any recommendations for what I can do better? Is anything taking away from your enjoyment of the site?
Thanks for your help.

P.S. If there’s anyone who would like to donate a custom blog design to ToddBlog.net out of the goodness of their heart, let me know. It’d be fun, educational and a nice sample in your design portfolio. Oh, and there might even be some brownies in it for you.
The Evangelical collapse: A prediction
We are on the verge – within 10 years – of a major collapse of evangelical Christianity. This breakdown will follow the deterioration of the mainline Protestant world and it will fundamentally alter the religious and cultural environment in the West.

Taste the Twitter
In an interesting move, Skittles decided to “relaunch” its website today. Rather than pursue the traditional, corporate route, the company decided to plug into the Twitter stream, featuring tweets about the candy from around the world. Anytime someone mentions Skittles, it shows up on the site.
There’s very little marketing speak. Hardly any Skittles imagery – just a small widget box with some navigation. Most of the links in the navigation take you to other social media sites: Facebook, YouTube, Flickr. In short, the site is nothing at all like a typical website.
So far the buzz surrounding the effort has been incredible. AdAge talked about the site, Mashable and ReadWriteWeb picked it up and hundreds of other blogs have linked to the site. As of right now, #skittles is by far the most popular topic on Twitter.
Need a gift?
I love Arrested Development. It is, without a doubt, one of my favorite TV shows of all time.
So when I saw this print, I knew that I wanted it. And, Hayley, being awesome, purchased it for me.
The story would be awesome (ok, that might be a stretch) if it ended there, but it doesn’t.
This weekend, we received the print. I excitedly opened the envelope and set the glorious print on the counter. Every time I walked by, I would pick it up and admire it. It truly is a wonderful piece of art.
Last night, Hayley was cleaning up the kitchen, and as I am wont to do, I left the envelope on the counter without throwing it away. She went to pitch it, but, fortunately, noticed some more items inside. Pulling them out, she discovered that elloh had also included a small print of Jim from the Office, a postcard with Flight of the Conchords, a signed certificate of authenticity from the artist and a small pin with a note informing us that we were amazing.
Needless to say, we were impressed.
So, if you are or some gift-deserving friend or family member is a fan of quirky art and good TV, you need to check out elloh’s shop on Etsy. You won’t be sorry.
Thanks, el lohse!
