After some serious soul searching and deep, meaningful conversation over a ham and swiss pizza roll, Hayley and I have decided that Fuller Seminary and a life of ministry in the church is not the direction that we would like to pursue. We have decided instead to remain in Wichita; I will remain in the secular advertising world and Hayley will relinquish her dream of becoming a Disney princess and be satisfied with being only mine.
This really was no choice at all, as I have never been and likely will never be accepted to Fuller Seminary – particularly after such a stunt as I have pulled today on the ToddBlog.
April Fools everyone. April Fools.
Your (former?) friend,

So I was checking my gMail when I noticed an intriguing ad at the top of my screen:

I wasn’t aware that there was a guy named Kevin Johnson running for mayor of Wichita – I didn’t even know we were having a mayoral election this year! Intrigued, I clicked the ad and was taken to this site:

Upon my arrival to the site, I saw that this wasn’t just any Kevin Johnson – this was the Kevin Johnson I remember fondly from NBA Jam. Johnson was a guard for the Phoenix Suns for 12 years and is now, apparently, pursuing a political career. In Sacramento, Cali. Approximately 1,691 miles from my house.
Ok, so what’s the lesson? Google adwords can be effective – I clicked it. But Google adwords can also be targeted. By region. By state. By city. And this one wasn’t targeted at all. Which means that I wasted anywhere from 5 cents up to a number of dollars of KJ’s campaign money.
The power of interactive, search-specific advertising is being able to present your ads to people who are in a position to either be interested in or, at the least, the target of your message. Blitzing the United States and people who couldn’t care less about the Sacramento mayoral race is a waste of money.

Hello everyone. I’ve waited to post this because I didn’t want to jeopardize my current work situation. However, after an hour-long phone conversation last night, I learned that I have been accepted to Fuller Theological Seminary, beginning this summer. I’ll be working toward a Master of Arts in Theology, with the goal of earning my doctorate in ministry. I would like to translate this education into a full-time career in ministry.
Hayley and I have been talking about this for a while now, and though it is difficult, we believe this is the right direction for us to take. In order to pay for the school (I did receive a small scholarship), I will have to be a grad assistant work as a night watchman at Fuller. This means that we will be moving to Pasadena, Cali. at the beginning of May. Hayley will likely continue her profession in the legal field or pursue her other passion, performing at Disney Land as a Disney princess.
We have a lot to do before then – sell our house, find a place to live and find Hayley a new job – but we trust everything will work out.
I’ll keep you updated as we have new information. Until then, if you’re interested in buying a house in historic College Hill or know of any paralegal positions in Pasadena, let us know.
Happy Tuesday friends!
