I’ll go ahead & step out there and say that the deity of Jesus is something that is essential.
Dang Sam, starting us out with some controversial stuff!
I’ll step out there too and say that the humanity of Jesus is also essential.
inerrancy of scripture?
did I get it right?
Alan, what do you mean by “inerrancy?”
Sorry. I’d say “infallibility” but then people would immediately think Catholic and I didn’t really want that…(not that there is anything wrong with Catholic folks - I love Catholics)
I just mean that in order to belief in the God of the Bible, you have to belief that the Bible is the truth and free from error.
I don’t know that I would agree with the doctrine of inerrancy or infallibility. There are some places where places where the Bible contradicts its own earlier testimony, i.e. the way Judas died in Matthew versus the way he dies in Acts. I absolutely believe that the Bible is inspired by God, but I cannot say that I believe it to be free from error. I hope that doesn’t count me out.
The doctrine of love - for Christ and people - is essential.
