Well I've been writing musings, mostly in my journal and on my blog, for the past few years but recently have realized the power and subversiveness of fiction; I would love to write a good story about some of the deeper things in life, but somehow indirectly. It's still a very blurry picture in my head right now.

Your thoughts here resonate because almost everything I've read from good writers is that you just have to do write even when you don't feel like it.

I'm not sure yet if I've been given the gift of writing, but there's no way to find out unless I try, right? I remember reading that one year Jack London sent in something like 270 manuscripts and got 260 rejection slips. JK Rowling's Harry Potter book was originally rejected by something like 10 publishers. She nearly gave up until she got a break, and now 350 million people around the world are reading her story.

Anyway, sorry for the long comment. Have you started on your story yet?

This is eerily close to my thoughts over the past month. Eerily close, minus the Happy Friday part.
